Brihottor Sylhet Education Trust, also known as BSE Trust/ BSET, has organised a fundraising show followed by an Iftar gathering recently on 2 July in White House, a quite massive venue in Newham Borough of London East.

The event was attended by people from diverse fields such as Britain and Bangladesh oriented political activists, imaams, media activists, business muguls, British Bangladeshi diaspora community activists joined by local borough councillors and local MP Tim Stephens.

Donation pledges was taken from some attendedees. However the total figure of pledges and instant donations was not announced at any stage of the event.

This organisation commenced its operation about 2/3 years ago, said Mr Parvez, one of key trustees of BSET.

Asked about its goals and and operational performance to achieve these, Mr Parves said that it is entirely volunteer-led venture, there is no paid staff as of now and donation money goes all straight toward the projects while administrative costs are arranged seperaty by themselves. He also said that it is currently providing funding in the form of grants towards the aid of underpriviliged and talented children in Bangladesh, predominantly in Sylhet region.

The other key figures including Mr Jamal Uddin, Mr Hena Sheikh, Mr Abdul Bari, Farhan Masud Khan participated in that open, free and informal duscussions.

Suggesrions offered in the discussion include one that a pool of experts particularly in the field of education be formed to gain more public confidence and garner more public supports forthwith.

It is noteworthy that Most Bangladeshi organisations is seen very inefficient and badly managed to deliver projects effectively. BSET is seen striving to operate in an accontable and transparent manner.
